Being able to talk

Has not only changed my life
it saved my life

Jacqueline Castle - Psychotherapy & Counselling

Are you struggling with depression or anxiety?

Nowadays, we can find ourselves in very troubled states of mind, feeling very off balance – and this can occur at any time during our lives. We may have lost a loved one, someone who was our energy and the focus of our dreams. We may have no idea what causes our problems and we may feel in a very emotional state with a lot of turmoil and uneasiness around us. This may have stopped us from doing things we have always wanted to do. Also, we may know why we feel like this but have ignored our feelings, hoping they would go away – keeping that lid pressing down on the pressure cooker!

In my experience, any of the following (common) problems can be explored and dealt with in a safe and confidential way:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Phobias
  • Relationship problems
  • Relationship breakdowns
  • Low self-esteem
  • Grief
  • Career-related problems
  • Young adults
  • Addictions
  • Dyslexia
  • Sexuality
  • Changes
  • Work-related stress
  • Counselling for couples
  • Miscellaneous life challenges

Are you looking for help with depression, anxiety, phobias, addiction or sexual issues in Hampshire?

If so, based in the New Forest, I cover Hampshire and West Sussex. So call for a meeting and bring anything you need to bring – it’s your choice – but maybe these are some of the questions you may want to ask yourself:

  • Why do I feel like I do?
  • How can I change my behaviour?
  • How can I make my life better?
  • Is there a solution to my problems?
  • How do I find the right person for me to talk to?

I work within a humanistic, person-centred framework, which includes different methods including those from Gestalt, Jung, Pearls, Freud and Carl Rogers.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client is to work together in a confidential and safe way to create transformation within the relationship of counselling and psychotherapy.

The importance of human development

Human development is defined as the process of enlarging people’s freedoms and opportunities and, as a result, improving their wellbeing. Human development is about the real freedom ordinary people have to decide who to be, what to do, and how to live.

“Whether one calls it a growth tendency, a drive toward self-actualisation or forward moving directional tendency, it is the main spring of life, and is, in the last analysis, the tendency upon which all psychotherapy is based.” Carl Rogers, ‘On Becoming a Person’.

Sociability: the need to be with other human beings and a desire to know and be known by other people involves:

– being trusting and trustworthy

– being curious about the world, and open to experience

– being creative and compassionate

I bring, and include in my work, my own self-development that started at the age of 34 and has been on-going to this day. Since the start, my life has been about coming to further understand myself and wanting to know the world and others around me. This has been a journey of great depth and is my passion as well as my career.

I am an Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling Society. This means that my qualifications meet the high standards of the National Counselling Society. The National Counselling Society is certified by the Professional Standards Authority.
